Common Name: Chinese Elm
Latin Name: Ulmus parvifolia
Origin: China and south east Asia
Position: Chinese Elms like to be in a morning sun they do not like hot full sun and can handle light frost.
Watering: Watering is generally every day generously as they don’t like to dry out however don’t allow them to stand in water.
Feeding: Chinese Elms need to be fed twice a year in spring and autumn. Do not feed when the plant is dormant in winter.
Pests and Diseases: When humidity is low they can suffer from scale or spider mites both can be fixed with a spray of pesticide. Do not use lime sulphur as it will cause it to drop its leaves.
Repotting: Needs to be done every 2 years using a very well draining soil in spring.
