Common Name: Buxus Harlandii

Latin Name: Chinese boxwood

​

Origin: Native to China

​

Position:  Needs a sunny position and must be protected from cold weather of below 5c

​

Watering: In summer it needs quite a lot of water but can endure short periods of dry weather.do not allow it to sit in water as it is prone to root rot.

​

Feeding: Feed every 2 weeks during the growing season and because the harlandii doesn’t go fully dormant in winter continue feeding monthly through out winter.

​

Pests and Diseases:  can be attacked by fungal diseases (box blight or phytophthora root rot in wet soil, for example), nematodes, scale, boxwood mite, boxwood leafminer or boxwood psyllid. There are specific pesticides for most pests and diseases and it can be a good idea to ask a professional gardener for help in serious cases

Repotting:  needs to be every 3 to 5 years depending on the age and tolerate a strong root pruning. For healthy trees try to keep the pH level in soil around 7 to 8
